Hi! Calling out to young people

Making history, making friends.

Get to know other young people in an exciting project that involves both you and people close to you. And make history. Some of your parents, or grandparents, or neighbours, lived through the Troubles.
Wouldn't it be great to hear from them what it was like. Was it like the war scenes we see in videos or films? Was it hard to lead a normal life in your area? Were people frightened?

A youth project for the digital age
The Troubles.
The idea is that you interview someone from an older generation who lived through the Troubles. It is easy to do this using a smart phone or an iPhone, and we can help you along the way.
We can also help with questions you may have, such as how to do an interview, how to edit, and so forth. No worries!
The point is to find out what living through the Troubles really felt like. Some 30 other young people from different backgrounds will be doing the same. We can then share these video recordings online, in a safe space, and see the many different kinds of experiences there were.
We can talk to each other online about all of this. We may even disagree at times.
In the end, you are making history from these family or neighbourhood memories of the Troubles. Think of yourself as a TV reporter bringing the past alive and into the present.
The video recordings will be archived by MOTAP (Museum of the Troubles and Peace) and the top three videos will be given a special award.
